It's a visual display that turns the world into a bluish haze with characters and crucial objects highlighted in a different color. With a press of a button, Batman can enter Detective Mode. You could argue that there's a third pillar to the gameplay: the investigations. You're constantly being forced to learn and adapt. With the stealth segments, you'll encounter enemies with radar jammers or thermal goggles that make it harder for you to stay unseen. For example, an enemy wearing body armor needs to be stunned before you can get in close to deal some damage. In the case of the hand-to-hand fights, you're always encountering new enemy types that require different tactics. Both the stealth and brawling stay fresh throughout the campaign due to the numerous curveballs the developers throw at you. However, they soon evolve past what you experienced in the first game. The brawling and stealth will feel a little too familiar in the opening hours if you've played Asylum. The brawls, meanwhile, are fast-paced button-mashing segments in which you fend off large groups of enemies with combos, gadgets, and counter moves. Batman isn't very durable and will die from a few gunshots so you need to quietly take down armed foes. If your opponents have guns and/or are holding hostages, you'll be doing the latter. Combat in the game plays out in two ways: hand-to-hand brawls or stealthy "invisible predator" sequences.

Still, it's hard to get bored in the game world because it's full of people to fight. On a few occasions, you'll have to head into the subway below the city and the lack of a quick exit from these tunnels makes the game's pace slow to a crawl. The maps aren't very detailed and you'll spend a lot of time backtracking and looking around at ceilings to find some hidden ledge. The only time navigating the world becomes annoying is when you find yourself indoors. He can also glide through the air with his cape. Batman can quickly bounce from building to building with his grappling hook or zipline. The lack of content, and horrible story are by far the greatest let downs.Though the game world is sizable, it's pretty easy to get around. This game is repetitive, clunky and overrated. The characters in this game are all over the place, and what rocksteady should have done is expanded more on each of the villains rather than making batman jump from place to place with no real drive, this would have also helped with the fact that you can finnish the game in only a few hours.

From Arkham asylum not much gameplay content has been added, and the free roam is doesn't really suit this genre. The combat is un-pollished button mashing and there is far to little content to be worth buying, along with them trying to charge you extra for skins. But as I am not that, I am a gamer and as a gamer I think Batman Arkham City is not a good game, the story is far too simple and predictable. Without a doubt, what all this game offers is much more than 95% of other games you could spend your time with. There are puzzles, challenges, and feats to overcome which all prove to be challenging. I tried to beat everything in this game, extras and all it's difficult. The gameplay is more fluid than any other game I've played even after nearly 7 more years of game releases. You truly feel like a superhero when playing this game which makes the game fairly easy to beat, but it's even easier to spend more time than necessary beating the story. You still get new weapons, abilities, and tech to ease combat and make the game more fun. Customization is limited but with a character you don't want to alter, the lack of options is in no way a detraction. Endlessly impressive and entertaining, City prides itself on it's large map, unpredictable story, and perfect gameplay.

While it doesn't fill it with as many important events (Asylum used every area to it's full potential, City touches on each of them maybe once or twice max), it provides so many areas to roam, explore, and clear of hostiles. In my Top Five of All Time, Arkham City takes the open-world aspect and multiplies it by five.
